Day 22 - Jimmy has learned food is not the only thing in life. |
While it may be the most important, |

He's realized every time he sees a human, it's not just about eating. |
Day 22 brought the first time he stopped
begging when we got 2 feet from him! |
Day 24 - Jimmy has developed some complications over the past 36 hours. He
his feeding reaction ceased and it was all we could do to get him to take any
food. It looks like his gut has some sort of issue. We've been giving him fluids
to keep him hydrated and monitoring his weight, which has been dropping. This
afternoon, he had a slight seizure. DJ sat with Jimmy on his lap all afternoon
as the two watched cartoons. Tonight, Jimmy did show a feeding response and took
a full 1 cc of formula - a great sign, but we are still very concerned. We'll
keep updates posted. We are still offering feeding every hour during the day,
and every other hour from midnight until 6.
Day 25 - Jimmy looked very good this morning. He at at every awakening last
night, had the expected feeding response, and took the full amount (1 cc) of
formula. We added a similar aged baby in the morning to see if he was looking
for more company. He immediately perched and did seem to be more alert and
responsive. A couple hours later, Jimmy had a very strong seizure. Shortly
thereafter, he had several more. It was more than little Jimmy's body could
take. He died in Tammy's hands. It was a very sad day after over three weeks of
around the clock care.
