The Black-headed Caique (Pionites melanocephala) and the White-bellied Caique (Pionites leucogaster) act more like the family dog than a parrot most times. They love to wrestle, bounce around and play rough. They can really keep you on your toes with their zest for life and high energy. They are very willing and able to learn and love to perform (as long as they are the center of all attention). Caiques are known to 'body surf' or rub themselves on a shoulder or in long hair in a wild frenzy while hanging tight by their feet. When a long-haired person comes in to the aviary, you hear the happy purring sounds from every Caique cage with a view!
